Angel pyramid, golden Ferris wheel, and 50 stalls in Germany's Gold City
When the fairy lights are switched on in Pforzheim's pedestrian zone at the end of November, a tradition begins that has been an integral part of the Baden Advent calendar since 1972. The Golden Pforzheim Christmas Market will celebrate its 54th edition in 2026. It has carried the 'golden' suffix since 2006 — a tribute to Pforzheim's jewelry and watch industry, which has given the city in the Enzkreis district its nickname since 1767.
The market's landmark is the Golden Angel Pyramid on the market square — one of Germany's largest mulled wine pyramids. From the lower level, the pyramid team serves hot mulled wine, punch, and non-alcoholic hot drinks, while above, the artfully painted angels rotate around the central axis. In the evenings, the pyramid becomes a meeting point where people from Pforzheim and the entire Enzkreis district arrange to meet.
Pforzheim is known for its jewelry industry — and so the market features several booths with works by local goldsmiths. In addition, you'll find wool, fur, and leather goods, honey from the northern Black Forest, and Advent candles from the region. The culinary offerings are typically Baden: Schupfnudeln with sauerkraut, Maultaschen, potato pancakes, bratwurst from a charcoal grill — accompanied by Baden mulled wine, punch, and hot apple cider.
The Pforzheim market is located in the middle of the city's pedestrian zone and can be reached by S-Bahn from the main train stations of Karlsruhe, Stuttgart, and Mannheim in 30 to 60 minutes. With the Gold City tradition behind it and the Black Forest at its doorstep, Pforzheim is a worthwhile destination for a day of Advent in Baden-Württemberg.
The 54th Golden Pforzheim Christmas Market will take place from November 23 to December 22, 2026. The organizer is the market administration of the City of Pforzheim. Approximately 50 stalls and booths will be set up on the market square and in the adjacent pedestrian zone. The landmark is the Golden Angel Pyramid, one of Germany's largest mulled wine pyramids, complemented by the golden Ferris wheel and two children's carousels.
The range of goods extends from gold jewelry from Pforzheim workshops to wool, fur, and leather goods, as well as regional culinary specialties. Mulled wine, Baden punch, Schupfnudeln with sauerkraut, potato pancakes, and bratwurst are the culinary constants. Changing stage programs, performances by local choirs, kindergartens, and music associations complement the market offerings.
