Schloß Holte-Stukenbrock, with just under 26,000 inhabitants in the Gütersloh district, has two characteristics that define the Glanzlichter Open Air: a beautiful, spacious Bürgerpark and a vibrant, networked gastronomy scene. Both come together in August — on two Thursday evenings during the East Westphalian summer holidays. The organizers are the SC Gastroteam (an association of local restaurateurs) and the town of Schloß Holte-Stukenbrock; cover and tribute bands from the Ostwestfalen-Lippe and North Rhine-Westphalia regions perform.

Tribute Bands as the Core Format

Stylistically, tribute and cover bands dominate. In past editions, acts such as: Kaiser – the Roland Kaiser Tribute Show, Taylor Experience (Taylor Swift cover), Queen, ABBA, and Tina Turner tribute acts have performed. The concept works: if you like Roland Kaiser or Queen, you don't have many opportunities to experience live concerts by such acts — and tribute bands fill exactly this gap. Glanzlichter is therefore not a classic festival, but a likeable concert series.

Reusable Cup as a Trademark

A special feature of the event: the reusable cup system. For €3.50, you purchase a seasonal cup once per season, valid for all Glanzlichter dates in 2026. Advantages: less waste, shorter waiting times at the counters (no deposit handling per order), no broken glass on the meadow. The system has proven itself in recent years and is part of the festival's well-established identity.

Schloß Holte-Stukenbrock in the State of NRW

Geographically, Schloß Holte-Stukenbrock is located at the transition from the Teutoburg Forest to the Senne in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia — a twin town formed from the originally separate localities of Schloß Holte and Stukenbrock, merged in 1970. With the Hollywood and Safari Park Holly and the Senne nature reserve, the town holds a firm place in East Westphalian tourism. The Glanzlichter Open Air is one of the events that cultivates local identity without charging admission fees.
