Gerolstein swingt – Concert Series 2026

„Gerolstein swingt“ is a newly conceived concert series celebrating its premiere in 2026, significantly expanding the musical profile of the town of Gerolstein in the Vulkaneifel region. With a total of 12 concerts spread throughout the year, Gerolstein is establishing itself as a concert town for swinging Jazz, Blues, Rock'n'Roll, Dixieland, and Swing.

Series Concept

The series is designed as a summer and year-round open-air and indoor concert sequence. The venues vary depending on the weather and musical character:

• Café-Bar Leo's in Hotel Löwenstein – Indoor venue for the cooler months (March/April, October/December).
• Staircase area at Gerolstein Station (Kyll riverside) – Open-air venue with a special atmosphere above the river.
• Brunnenplatz Gerolstein – Central square for larger open-air concerts.
• Other Venues: Hillesheim (Schmitzbackes on 01.04.) and possibly other locations in the Gerolsteiner Land.

2026 Programme

Confirmed concerts for the 2026 premiere season:

• March 31, 2026 – Jazzlight (Sextet): Opening concert at Café-Bar Leo's, Hotel Löwenstein. Repertoire: Swing, Latin, Bossa Nova, Blues.
• April 1, 2026 – Schmitzbackes: Concert in Hillesheim.
• April 17, 2026 – Jazz Vitation: Concert (venue via organizer).
• May 29, 2026 – Slaughterhouse Jazzband: New Orleans Jazz & Dixieland at the staircase area of Gerolstein Station (Kyll riverside).
• July 10, 2026 – Picnic Concert with Blue Swinging Dixies: Sextet from Bitburg, Dixie/Swing/Blues. Staircase area at the station, 7:00 PM. In case of rain: Café-Bar Leo's.
• 7 Additional Concerts: Spread throughout the year, dates will be continuously published by the organizer.

Free Admission Through Sponsors

All concerts in the „Gerolstein swingt“ series are free to attend. Financing is provided by regional sponsors. This connects the series to the trend of accessible open-air cultural offerings that contribute to the cultural revitalization of city centers in numerous German medium-sized towns.

Alfons Hardt as Programme Curator

Alfons Hardt from Touristik Gerolsteiner Land is responsible for the programme. The programme curation combines local and regional bands (Slaughterhouse Jazzband, Blue Swinging Dixies from Bitburg) with supra-regional ensembles, creating a diverse concert offering with a focus on swinging music.

Gerolstein as a Music City

With DixieCity (Jazz Festival in August), „Gerolstein swingt“, and the Gerolstein Symphony Orchestra, Gerolstein boasts a remarkably diverse musical offering for a town of its size. The „Gerolstein swingt“ concert series adds a year-round live music component to the tourist profile of the Vulkaneifel town.
