Traditional summer festival of the Weiler im Allgäu volunteer fire brigade
The Spritzenfest is the annual, traditional summer event of the Weiler im Allgäu Volunteer Fire Brigade at the fire station in Weiler. In the market town of Weiler-Simmerberg in the southern Bavarian district of Lindau (Lake Constance), the brigade has a long history – the sister brigade in Simmerberg has existed for over 150 years, and the same applies to the Weiler brigade itself.
The festival typically runs from Thursday or Friday evening until Sunday, utilizing the fire station with its festival tent, outdoor area, and stalls. From 6 p.m., the extensive food and drink offerings are open – with a focus on the regional brewery Post Brauerei and Siebers Quelle from the Westallgäu region. A dedicated wine bar complements the Alpine beer selection.
Family-friendliness is a declared goal: the brigade's children's program is a distinct part of the schedule. Rides in the fire truck, Bobby car races, and stacking competitions with wooden and water building blocks make the festival a summer highlight for the youngest visitors too.
The Weiler Music Band, a brass orchestra with a long tradition (since 1815), provides the musical accompaniment. They regularly perform at the Spritzenfest, contributing to the festival's Alpine sound.
The market town of Weiler-Simmerberg is located in the extreme southwest of Bavaria, in the Lindau (Lake Constance) district, near the border with Austria and Baden-Württemberg. The region is known as 'Westallgäu' and is characterized by tourism – Spritzenfeste and similar club festivals organized by fire brigades, music bands, and sports clubs form the backbone of regional event life in the summer.
The 2026 Spritzenfest will take place from Thursday, June 18, to Saturday, June 20, 2026, in Weiler im Allgäu. As every year, it will be held on the traditional third weekend of June at the fire station. Festivities begin at 6 p.m. with catering, followed by the evening music program; during the day, the children's program opens its stations.
The offering combines the Alpine brass music of the Weiler Music Band, an extensive food and drink program with Post Brewery and Siebers Quelle, plus a dedicated wine bar. Thus, the Spritzenfest is a typical Westallgäu club festival with a focus on family suitability.
