The October edition of Gerolstein laughs combines the proven concept of the street theater event with the nationwide Heimat Shoppen initiative. With this, GeroTeam e.V. sends a clear signal for regional retail in times of increasing online competition.

Heimat Shoppen – The Nationwide Initiative

Heimat Shoppen is a nationwide initiative by Chambers of Industry and Commerce that has been raising awareness for years about the importance of regional retail for the vibrancy of city centers. On Heimat Shoppen days, retailers increasingly promote their products, highlight regional specialties, and sensitize customers to the fact that their purchasing decisions have an immediate impact on the future of the city.

Program in the City Center

On October 4, 2026, Gerolstein's city center will be transformed into an experience zone between 12 PM and 5 PM:

• Live Music: Musical performances at various locations in the city center create atmosphere.
• Face Painting: A classic for the youngest visitors.
• Balloon Artist: Fun figures and animals made from balloons.
• Walking Acts: The typical performers of the Gerolstein laughs series ensure a street theater ambiance.
• Sunday Shopping: Retail stores will be open.

Regionality as a Focus

Compared to the spring and summer editions of Gerolstein laughs, the October edition places a clear emphasis on regionality. Local products, regional providers, Eifel specialties – retailers consciously present what the region has to offer. This focus aligns perfectly with the Heimat Shoppen initiative.

GeroTeam e.V. as Organizer

GeroTeam e.V., located at Bahnhofstr. 4 in Gerolstein, is an association of retailers, restaurateurs, and service providers in the town. With the Gerolstein laughs event series, the Christmas market, and participation in Heimat Shoppen, the association shapes the city's marketing efforts.
