Neighbourhood festival with flea market, Binokel World Championship and live music in Tübinger Straße — a community festival with heart for the Blaue Haus
The Gerberviertel is one of Stuttgart's most vibrant inner-city districts — an urban mosaic of owner-managed shops, bars, and cafés between Marktplatz, Marienplatz, and Wilhelmsplatz, behind the Gerber shopping centre. Its neighbourhood festival, the Gerberviertelfest, transforms Tübinger Straße (at Gerber) into a continuous festival mile every June. The next edition runs from June 19 to 20, 2026 — Friday from 5 pm, Saturday from 8 am.
Friday evening starts at 5 pm and ends around midnight. The focus: DJs, aperitif stands, and the kick-off character of a relaxed after-work party. Saturday begins at 8 am with the traditional flea market (8 am–4 pm), which takes over the entire Tübinger Straße. From 10 am, bands and DJs will play on stage — in 2026, including apparat (10 am), Francesco & Maurice (12 pm), and the live duo Ambience (5 pm).
The festival's most quirky highlight is the Binokel World Championship on Saturday from 2 pm to 5 pm — according to the organisers, "the world's first Binokel World Championship." Binokel is the traditional Swabian card game, a trick-taking game with clear similarities to Pinochle. Those who want to play can register in advance via the festival website; the final is part of the public stage programme.
Saturday afternoon is family-friendly: face painting, temporary tattoos, a clown, and an obstacle course for romping around. Street food trucks offer international and Swabian specialities, the beer comes from Dinkelacker, and the exclusive festival specialty — the Gerber Spritz — is only served this weekend. The bar remains open until 11:30 pm on Saturday.
The Gerberviertelfest has a social anchor: part of the proceeds go to the Blaue Haus in Stuttgart, an institution for families with children undergoing cancer treatment. This makes the festival more than just a neighbourhood summer festival — it is a solidarity event organised by the Gerberviertel traders and their guests.
The Gerberviertelfest 2026 relies on the proven two-day format: Friday DJ aperitif, Saturday a full day of programming with a flea market in the morning, stage programme all day, and the Binokel World Championship in the afternoon. Tübinger Straße will be closed for this and transformed into a festival mile with a stage, food trucks, and play stations.
The social aspect is part of its identity: part of the proceeds go to the Blaue Haus in Stuttgart, an institution for families with children undergoing cancer treatment. The Gerberviertelfest is thus one of the few neighbourhood festivals in Stuttgart's city centre with a distinct donation component.
