A Kirmes with Neighborhood Character
Furpach is one of the southeastern districts of Neunkirchen in the Neunkirchen district. The annual Furpacher Kirmes on Arno-Spengler-Platz is an expression of this neighborhood identity: a Volksfest (public festival) of manageable size, but with a high emotional connection to the community. Anyone who grew up in Furpach has known the Kirmes since childhood.
Rides for All Ages
The district town of Neunkirchen deliberately curates the lineup: 11 stall operators with 14 attractions. This is not the scale of a city center Kirmes like the Neunkirchen Central Kirmes, but a tailored program for the neighborhood setting.
- Bumper Cars – A classic for teenagers and the young at heart
- Children's Carousel – Colorful and child-friendly design
- "Crazy Jump" Bungee Trampoline – An adrenaline attraction that has been returning for years
- Shooting Gallery and Darts – Skill games with prizes
- Snack Stands – Bratwurst, fries, sweets, ice cream
Three Days of Spring Atmosphere
The Kirmes traditionally falls on the weekend before or around Pentecost – a time when the weather in Saarland is usually already inviting, the first open-air events start, and families like to get out in the sun. Three days of Volksfest atmosphere right on your doorstep for the residents of Furpach and a nice outing for the neighboring districts.
A Familiar Tradition in Saarland
Neighborhood Kirmessen like Furpach are as much a part of Saarland as the Schoppen-Treffer (a local term for a successful hit): regular, manageable, with a firm social function. Not a mega-event, not a tourist magnet – but that's exactly what makes it charming. Anyone who wants to get to know the real Saarland should visit Arno-Spengler-Platz on a May weekend.
