If you're looking for an uncomplicated day of fun in the Teutoburg Forest with children, the SchiederSee recreational area in Schieder-Schwalenberg is a classic for families from Lippe, Paderborn, Höxter, Bielefeld, and southern Lower Saxony. The SchiederSee is a 1.1 km long reservoir with pedal boats, a promenade, a playground, a restaurant — and the location of the popular Funtastico Family Park, the region's family-oriented amusement park.

FUNTASTICO Children's and Family Festival on July 18–19, 2026

The special festival weekend on July 18 and 19, 2026 expands the regular park program with entertainment, stage shows, interactive activities, and food stalls along the lake promenade. Regular park admission is around €13.90 per person, with a late-day ticket for €12.00 (from 4 PM), a parent-child ticket for €21.90, and a family day ticket for up to 5 people for €44.90.

Funtastico is not a "Disneyland competitor" but a deliberately family-oriented amusement park — manageable, great for half or a full day, without high-security roller coasters and high-tech shows. The concept targets families with kindergarten and primary school-aged children who value classic fairground fun rides and nature experiences by the lake more than maximum adrenaline. Season and Arrival

Funtastico Family Park is usually open from mid-March to the end of October — the Children's and Family Festival falls in the mid-summer season. The SchiederSee recreational area is easily accessible by car via the A33 (exit Bad Salzuflen, then B66/B252). Parking is available directly at the park entrance. The nearest train station is Schieder on line RB72 (Paderborn–Holzminden) — about a 1 km walk from there.
