About F.T.C. Nordhausen

The F.T.C. Festival — Flieger, Trucker und Country — celebrates its grand comeback in 2026 after a 24-year hiatus in Nordhausen. The occasion is the 70th anniversary of Nordhausen Airport. Hundreds of trucks, top-class country acts (Truck Stop, Jonny Hill, Linda Feller, international bands like Doug Adkins, Buffalo Drive, Open Road, Cat Lion, Wild As Her), line dancing, airshows, and scenic flights come together on over 75,000 m² of airport grounds. Three days of festival with on-site camping, from Friday to Sunday. The organizer is Medienhaus Heck GmbH — Sven-Bolko Heck, who organized the original F.T.C. Festival in the 1990s, is thus returning after more than two decades.

Comeback after 24 years

The F.T.C. Festival in Nordhausen was one of Germany's most renowned country and trucker festivals in the 1990s. After a 24-year break, the festival returns in 2026 — the occasion is the 70th anniversary of Nordhausen Airport. Sven-Bolko Heck, the original organizer, is bringing the concept back in a contemporary form: "After 24 years, I'm bringing this festival back. The airport anniversary seemed like the right moment — everything fit together perfectly."

Country Line-up with Stars and International Guests

The musical program features a high-caliber lineup. The German-speaking acts are led by Truck Stop — the country pioneers of the German music scene, active since 1973, with hits like "Take it Easy, Altes Haus" and "Der Wilde, Wilde Westen". Also featured are Jonny Hill with his classic "Ruf Teddybär eins-vier", and Linda Feller, the "Queen of German Country". From the USA and internationally: Doug Adkins, Buffalo Drive, Open Road, Cat Lion, and Wild As Her bring authentic American country and country-rock to the main stage. Over three days, concerts and line dance workshops alternate.

Trucks, Airshow, Camping

Hundreds of trucks from all over Germany and Europe will be on display at the airport grounds — from gleaming polished show trucks with chrome and airbrush to classic old-school trucks. A dedicated truck parade on Saturday will bring the vehicles to life. Simultaneously, airshows with historic and modern aircraft will take place — after all, the 70th anniversary of the airport is the main occasion. Those interested can book scenic flights. On the 75,000 m² festival grounds, there are on-site campsites, both for truckers with their trucks and for visitors with motorhomes, tents, and caravans. Truck tickets are a separate category — truckers receive special status at the festival.

Nordhausen — Industrial City on the Südharz

Nordhausen is located in the Nordhausen district in the state of Thuringingia, on the Südharz, bordering Saxony-Anhalt. With around 41,000 inhabitants, the city is one of the most important centers in North Thuringia. It is known for its Doppelkorn distillery (Nordhäuser Doppelkorn), the Harz narrow-gauge railway (one of Germany's most famous narrow-gauge railways), and the former Mittelbau-Dora concentration camp memorial site, a reminder of Nazi history. Nordhausen Airport is located northeast of the city and has been operational since 1956 — home to sports planes, gliders, and smaller airliners.
