Traditional folk festival with amusement park and beer garden in the Oberpfalz
In 2026, the Frühlingsfest Sulzbach-Rosenberg will celebrate its 71st edition – a remarkably long tradition that makes the festival one of the oldest folk festivals in the northern Oberpfalz. The venue is the Dultplatz in the former industrial and now medium-sized town of Sulzbach-Rosenberg in the Amberg-Sulzbach district (Bavaria). The City of Sulzbach-Rosenberg is the organizer, with active participation from local clubs and showmen.
The festival grounds offer a classic amusement park with carousels, rides, snack stands, and sweets. Characteristic of Sulzbach-Rosenberg is the cozy beer garden, where the smooth beers from the local Fuchsbeck brewery are served – one of the characteristic private breweries of the Oberpfalz. Highlights of the program include the discounted opening Wednesday (rides for €1.50 between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.), Father's Day on Thursday with the festival starting at 1 p.m., Children's Day on Friday with up to 50% off rides, and the spectacular laser show on Saturday at 10 p.m. On Sunday, free face painting for children will conclude the festivities.
Sulzbach-Rosenberg is a historic town in northeastern Bavaria, shaped by a long iron and steel industry. Today, the Frühlingsfest is the biggest social event of the spring and a unifying element for the town and its surroundings. The festival regularly falls on the extended weekend around Ascension Day, allowing for the long festival period from Wednesday to Sunday. With Fuchsbeck beer, folk festival atmosphere, and family entertainment, it offers a typical Oberpfalz spring highlight.
The 71st Frühlingsfest Sulzbach-Rosenberg 2026 begins on Wednesday, May 13th, with the traditional opening offer: between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., every ride on all attractions costs only €1.50. Thursday, May 14th (Ascension Day / Father's Day), the festival opens from 1 p.m. and is, based on experience, one of the busiest days.
Friday, May 15th, is Children's Day – up to 50% off rides and special offers at the snack and sweets stands. The highlight is Saturday, May 16th: starting at 10 p.m., the spectacular laser show will take place over the festival grounds – one of the most popular program points of the entire festival. On Sunday, May 17th, the festival concludes with free face painting for children. Throughout all festival days, the beer garden tempts with beers from the Fuchsbeck brewery and the amusement park offers classic folk festival attractions.
