Frühlingserwachen Kastellaun

The Frühlingserwachen Kastellaun is a traditional spring event in the Hunsrück town of Kastellaun, organized by local retailers in cooperation with the city administration and the Werbe- und Fördergemeinschaft Kastellaun (Kastellaun Advertising and Promotion Association). It is traditionally held three weeks before Easter, meaning the date varies slightly from year to year.

The focus is on the open Sunday for shopping: Between 1:00 PM and 6:00 PM, the shops in Kastellaun's city centre open their doors outside of regular Sunday opening hours. Boutiques, shoe stores, fashion shops, drugstores, bookstores, and toy stores offer special spring promotions, new collections, and sometimes special discounts.

A special attraction is the car exhibition in the Netto parking lot. Regional car dealerships from the Hunsrück and Middle Rhine regions present their latest models — from small cars and SUVs to electric vehicles. Interested visitors can receive advice, try out seats, and in some cases, arrange test drives. For many visitors, the car exhibition is a welcome opportunity to inform themselves about current trends in the automotive sector.

For the youngest visitors, a children's carousel and a bouncy castle are set up, which can be used for free or at very moderate prices. This makes the Frühlingserwachen a family-friendly event where parents can stroll in peace while children have their own entertainment.

Kastellaun itself is a charming Hunsrück town with a historic city centre, town walls, and the ruins of its former castle. The Kornmarkt and Bahnhofstraße form the central shopping streets. In the immediate vicinity, hiking trails, the Moselle River, and the Upper Middle Rhine Valley UNESCO World Heritage site beckon — a perfect occasion to combine a spring trip to the Hunsrück with a visit to the town.
