The Frintroper Shopping-Nacht is one of the most established neighbourhood festivals in the western district of Essen-Frintrop. The organizer is the Bürger- und Verkehrsverein Essen-Frintrop 1922 e.V., which has been organizing the event annually since 2014. In 2026, the 12th edition will take place on Friday, September 25, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
Neighbourhood Festival with a Shopping Focus
The format combines classic shopping night elements with the character of a neighbourhood festival:

Thousands of visitors from Frintrop and the neighbouring districts of Borbeck, Dellwig, and Bedingrade flock to the area in the evening.

Frintrop is a district in the Borbeck borough (Borough IV) of the city of Essen, located in the far west of the Ruhr metropolis on the border with Oberhausen. With approximately 13,000 inhabitants, Frintrop has an independent district identity with an active club scene and a medium-sized business structure. The Bürger- und Verkehrsverein 1922 is one of the central institutions of the district and has been active for over 100 years. The Shopping-Nacht is one of the most important district events of the year.
