Four days of concerts, exhibitions, dance, and hands-on activities in the city center
The Frankenthaler Kulturtage from June 29 to July 2, 2026, will bring art and culture to the city center of Frankenthal. For four days, concerts, exhibitions in shops and studios, dance performances, city tours, and hands-on activities will showcase the city's cultural diversity. The event kicks off on Thursday, June 29, starting at 6:00 PM with an after-work party in the historic Erkenbertruine. Friday, June 30, will feature the art and shopping night.
A festival that makes Frankenthal's cultural scene visible and invites visitors to discover the city.
The Frankenthaler Kulturtage is a festival format that presents the city's cultural players—galleries, studios, musicians, dancers, theater professionals, artisans—on a common stage. For four days, shops, workshops, and unusual venues open their doors for a diverse program that highlights the city as a space for culture.
Thursday, June 29, 2026, starting at 6:00 PM, opens the festival with an after-work party in the Erkenbertruine—the historic setting of a medieval monastery ruin, now serving as an open-air venue. Live music, cocktails, small bites, and a relaxed summer atmosphere mark the transition from the workday to the festival weekend.
On Friday, June 30, 2026, the art and shopping night will take place. Shops will stay open longer, studios will host artist talks, artworks will be displayed in shop windows, and galleries will have opening receptions. The mix of commerce and culture, of shopping and socializing, is a proven format that draws visitors to the city center.
Concerts of various styles will be held at different locations in the city—Erkenbertruine, Marktplatz, in shops and cafes. Dance performances by local and regional groups will complement the stage program. Improvisational theater and short performances will also have their place.
A special appeal of the Kulturtage is the opportunity to visit artists in their studios or in temporary exhibition spaces. These encounters provide direct access to the artistic work, which is often missing in standard gallery exhibitions.
Various hands-on activities are aimed at children and adults: craft workshops, participatory dance classes, writing workshops, music workshops. These formats make the Kulturtage a participatory festival that is not just consumed but actively experienced.
Guided city walks will focus on Frankenthal's history, architectural features, and cultural highlights. A perfect addition for visitors who want to get to know Frankenthal.
