Traditional autumn festival in the heart of the Kyffhäuser city
The Frankenhäuser Bauernmarkt is one of the most traditional autumn events in the Kyffhäuser region. Since the 1980s, it has brought together farmers, direct marketers, and craftspeople from northern Thuringia, southern Saxony-Anhalt, and beyond. The 43rd edition will be celebrated in 2026.
From Friday to Sunday, the town center around the market transforms into a colorful stage: stalls with fresh fruit and vegetables, honey, sausage and cheese specialties, baked goods, juices, and liqueurs alternate with handicrafts, traditional costumes, and dried flowers. The market activities are accompanied by a stage program, dancing, and a festive parade.
Bad Frankenhausen is a spa and salt town on the southern edge of the Kyffhäuser Mountains and belongs to the Kyffhäuser district in northern Thuringia. The cityscape and identity are shaped by the Panorama Museum with Werner Tübke's monumental depiction of the early bourgeois revolution, the leaning tower of the Oberkirche, and the Kyffhäuser Monument on the outskirts of the town.
The 2026 program follows the proven three-day format. Registrations for stalls and the exact stage program will be published on bad-frankenhausen.de – traditionally with a festive parade on Saturday and a family program on Sunday.
Bad Frankenhausen is located between Sangerhausen and Sondershausen. By car via the B 85 or B 86. Bad Frankenhausen train station is about a 10-minute walk from the market square.
Market visits and stage program are free of charge. Market goods and catering at market prices.
