32nd Edition — Music, Cabaret, and Theatre in Historic Courtyards of the Old Town
For over three decades, Flensburger Hofkultur has been the festive heart of the Flensburg summer. The concept: The World as a Guest in Flensburg. Instead of one large stage, 13 historic courtyards in the old town — hidden between the Norderstraße houses, the Rote Speicher (Red Warehouses), the Maritime Museum, and the Pastoratshof — are converted into stages. Each courtyard has its own character: one is small, intimate, and tightly seated; another offers space for hundreds of guests.
Over five weeks, around 23 events plus 4 special city tours will take place. Three courtyards are new to the Hofkultur lineup in 2026 — the courtyard behind the Gewerkschaftshaus on Große Straße makes its debut. On the program:
Hofkultur is a big city festival in a village format: You sit between historic brick walls, listening to singer-songwriters from Berlin, Hamburg, Copenhagen, sometimes from New York. It sometimes rains — the courtyards are partly covered, partly open-air. Beer is served, tickets usually cost 25 Euros (reduced 12 Euros), special concerts more. City tours are offered separately (14 Euros, reduced 10).
Flensburg is Germany's northernmost city, right on the Danish border, a former Hanseatic city with a distinct Danish minority and a cosmopolitan character. Located in the district of Flensburg-Stadt — an independent city in the state of Schleswig-Holstein — its old town, harbor, and maritime warehouse buildings provide the ideal backdrop for a courtyard festival.
For five weeks in 2026, the Flensburg old town will once again transform into a festival mile. 23 main events are spread across 13 courtyards, plus 4 special HOFkulTOUR city tours. Three courtyards are new to the program in 2026 — Hofkultur is expanding for the first time to include the courtyard behind the Gewerkschaftshaus on Große Straße.
