23rd Flammkuchenfest of the Mörlheim Youth Association with Palatinate Schorle and Live Music
The Mörlheim Youth Association has been organizing its Flammkuchenfest independently since the early 2000s. With its 23rd edition in 2026, it has become one of the better-known summer events in Landau's constituent villages. The event is organized by the Catholic Youth Association (KLJB) Mörlheim, which manages the entire setup and operation of the festival on a voluntary basis.
Mörlheim is one of Landau's eight constituent villages, located in the eastern part of the city. With its approximately 1,600 inhabitants, the village has retained its rural character; the annual Flammkuchenfest and the Mörlheim Kirchweih (church consecration festival) in September shape the festival calendar.
The centerpiece of the festival is Flammkuchen – the paper-thin flatbread, baked crispy in a wood-fired oven, topped with crème fraîche, bacon, and onions. Originating from Alsace, it has become a local favorite in the Palatinate region for decades. The youth association bakes continuously on their own oven; in addition, vegetarian and sweet versions are available.
Palatinate Schorle is as essential to Flammkuchen as apples are to a pie. The youth association serves Schorle, Riesling, Müller-Thurgau, and other wines from surrounding wineries. Beer and non-alcoholic beverages are also available. Live music – usually regional bands and solo artists – creates a lively atmosphere in the evenings.
The youth association will be baking Flammkuchen all evening at the wood-fired oven. Various versions – classic with crème fraîche and bacon, vegetarian, sweet – will be served. Live music will accompany the event.
The exact musical program for 2026 will be published by the youth association in due course. The structure will follow the proven framework of previous years.
