25th Edition — Enjoyment, Music, and Tradition by the Castle Ruins
The Fischerfest Bad Lippspringe celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2026. The date is the second weekend of September, September 12th and 13th. The venue is the castle ruins on the eastern outskirts of Bad Lippspringe — a late medieval castle ruin that shapes the town's skyline. The organizer is the Sportfischerclub (SFC) Bad Lippspringe e.V., which has been organizing its Fischerfest as an annual highlight of its club life for 25 years.
The focus is on fish specialties in the classic North German style: freshly garnished Matjes with salad and onions in a bun, fried herring, Bismarck sandwich. A special feature is the salmon smoked over an open fire — prepared right before the guests' eyes on the smoking flames. Local beer, wine pairings, and non-alcoholic drinks are also available.
Live music comes from two traditional groups from the region: the Magellan-Shanty-Chor, which brings maritime songs, shanties, and sailor songs to the program, and the Männerchor Harmonie, a classic male choir with folk songs, drinking songs, and choral arrangements. The combination fits the concept: maritime longing meets classic German club culture.
A technical and craft program point is the model boat demonstration by AMC (Allgemeiner Modellclub Paderborn). Detailed model ships — from historic sailing ships to modern freighters — are exhibited and sometimes demonstrated in the nearby water. Model building enthusiasts and families alike will be appealed to.
SFC Bad Lippspringe e.V. is the local sport fishing club and custodian of the Fischerfest since its premiere in 2001. With the 25th edition in 2026, the festival marks a club anniversary and, at the same time, a highlight of the city's event calendar. Bad Lippspringe benefits from the Fischerfest as a family event that serves the Hochstift audience.
Bad Lippspringe, a spa town in the Paderborn district near the southern Eggegebirge with around 16,000 inhabitants, is known regionally for its healing springs and the Kurpark. With the castle ruins, the Lippe spring, and the Annenbrunnen, the town has its own historical identity. The Fischerfest takes place at the castle ruins — a place that combines tradition and nature experience.
