About Feuerseefest Stuttgart-West

From July 9th to 12th, 2026, the Feuersee in Stuttgart-West will transform into one of Southern Germany's liveliest district stages. For four days, regional bands will play everything from punk-rock to ska, jazz, and funk on the Rosenau stage in front of the Johanneskirche and on the Buntsee stage on Gutenbergstraße. A 'Hosenboje' (pants buoy) by MTV Stuttgart will span the lake for children, over 40 stalls will offer street food, initiatives, clubs, and arts and crafts, and on Sunday evening, Patrick Bopp will conduct the communal closing sing-along. The 14th Feuerseefest is organized by Rosenau Kultur e.V. with the Kulturzentrum Merlin and support from Johanneskirche, Theater der Altstadt, and MTV Stuttgart. Free admission.

The District Festival in Stuttgart-West

Since 2012, the Feuerseefest has been the identity-defining district festival in Stuttgart-West — one of the most densely populated and vibrant districts of the state capital, characterized by Wilhelminian-era apartment blocks, an alternative cultural scene, and an active citizenry. At its heart: the picturesque Feuersee lake with the neo-Gothic Johanneskirche, which rises from the water like a small island — one of Stuttgart's most famous postcard views.

The 14th edition in 2026 will take place from Thursday, July 9th to Sunday, July 12th, 2026 — after 14 years in September, the date has been moved to summer to reduce weather dependency.

Two Stages, Four Days, Regional Bands

Programmatically, the Feuerseefest focuses on regional bands and Stuttgart's subculture:

  • Rosenau Stage in front of the Johanneskirche — evening concert stage (punk-rock, ska, indie, singer-songwriter)
  • Buntsee Stage on Gutenbergstraße / east side of the Feuersee — live music Thursday to Saturday, plus DJs and live acts in a younger format
  • Theater der Altstadt complements the program with theatre and performances
  • Children's program Saturday and Sunday — dedicated stage slots, craft activities, interactive stations
  • Hosenboje by MTV Stuttgart — a rope stretched across the lake, allowing children to slide back and forth (supervised by the MTV team)

District Culture and Over 40 Stalls

More than 40 stalls line the festival grounds around the Feuersee:

  • Street food — Swabian Maultaschen, Bratwurst, veggie burgers, international specialties
  • Beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages
  • Arts and crafts and creative market with modern design, fashion, and young art
  • District initiatives, clubs, and political groups — sports, music, environment, social issues, international affairs
  • Stand of the Protestant Johanneskirche

Patrick Bopp and the Closing Sing-along

A beloved tradition: On Sunday evening, Patrick Bopp (Stuttgart musician and member of the a cappella group "Füenf") conducts the communal closing sing-along of all festival guests in front of the Rosenau Stage. Hundreds of voices, one song, the lake, the illuminated Johanneskirche — a moment that concludes the Feuerseefest and brings everyone together one last time.

Organizers and Supporters

The main organizer is Rosenau Kultur e.V., the operating association of the Rosenau venue in Stuttgart-West — a center for concerts, theatre, and district culture. Partners include:

  • Kulturzentrum Merlin
  • Evangelical Johanneskirche Stuttgart-West
  • Theater der Altstadt
  • MTV Stuttgart (sports club, Hosenboje)
  • District Council West and Stuttgart construction company Scholpp (sponsors)

Stuttgart-West — A District with Identity

Stuttgart-West (approx. 50,000 inhabitants), along with Bohnenviertel and Süden, is one of Stuttgart's most attractive and densely populated districts — Wilhelminian-era architecture, small cafés, alternative shops, the area around Schwabstraße, and of course, the Feuersee with the Johanneskirche define its character. For over a decade, the Feuerseefest has been a must-attend event in the district calendar, well-attended by the entire city — and for many Stuttgart-West residents, the perceived highlight of the summer.

Feuerseefest Stuttgart-West — edition 2026

The 14th Feuerseefest runs from July 9th to 12th, 2026, around the Feuersee in Stuttgart-West. Four days of district festival with the Rosenau stage in front of the Johanneskirche, the Buntsee stage on Gutenbergstraße, regional bands (punk-rock, ska, indie), theatre, the MTV Stuttgart's Hosenboje over the lake, a children's program, over 40 stalls with street food and initiatives, and the closing sing-along with Patrick Bopp on Sunday evening. Free admission.

14th Feuerseefest — July 9th to 12th, 2026

The 2026 edition takes place in summer for the first time since the date change — four days around the Feuersee with two stages, theatre, a children's program, and the unique district atmosphere. On the Rosenau Stage in front of the Johanneskirche, regional bands play in the evenings, the Buntsee Stage on Gutenbergstraße features younger acts with live music and DJs, the Theater der Altstadt presents theatre and performances, and for the youngest guests, the Hosenboje by MTV Stuttgart stretches across the lake — a rope slide for children between the banks.
