14th district festival around the Feuersee — Live music, theatre, Hosenboje and district culture
Since 2012, the Feuerseefest has been the identity-defining district festival in Stuttgart-West — one of the most densely populated and vibrant districts of the state capital, characterized by Wilhelminian-era apartment blocks, an alternative cultural scene, and an active citizenry. At its heart: the picturesque Feuersee lake with the neo-Gothic Johanneskirche, which rises from the water like a small island — one of Stuttgart's most famous postcard views.
The 14th edition in 2026 will take place from Thursday, July 9th to Sunday, July 12th, 2026 — after 14 years in September, the date has been moved to summer to reduce weather dependency.
Programmatically, the Feuerseefest focuses on regional bands and Stuttgart's subculture:
More than 40 stalls line the festival grounds around the Feuersee:
A beloved tradition: On Sunday evening, Patrick Bopp (Stuttgart musician and member of the a cappella group "Füenf") conducts the communal closing sing-along of all festival guests in front of the Rosenau Stage. Hundreds of voices, one song, the lake, the illuminated Johanneskirche — a moment that concludes the Feuerseefest and brings everyone together one last time.
The main organizer is Rosenau Kultur e.V., the operating association of the Rosenau venue in Stuttgart-West — a center for concerts, theatre, and district culture. Partners include:
Stuttgart-West (approx. 50,000 inhabitants), along with Bohnenviertel and Süden, is one of Stuttgart's most attractive and densely populated districts — Wilhelminian-era architecture, small cafés, alternative shops, the area around Schwabstraße, and of course, the Feuersee with the Johanneskirche define its character. For over a decade, the Feuerseefest has been a must-attend event in the district calendar, well-attended by the entire city — and for many Stuttgart-West residents, the perceived highlight of the summer.
The 2026 edition takes place in summer for the first time since the date change — four days around the Feuersee with two stages, theatre, a children's program, and the unique district atmosphere. On the Rosenau Stage in front of the Johanneskirche, regional bands play in the evenings, the Buntsee Stage on Gutenbergstraße features younger acts with live music and DJs, the Theater der Altstadt presents theatre and performances, and for the youngest guests, the Hosenboje by MTV Stuttgart stretches across the lake — a rope slide for children between the banks.
Over 40 stalls around the lake: Street food (Swabian Maultaschen, Bratwurst, veggie burgers), beer, wine, non-alcoholic beverages, arts and crafts market, as well as district initiatives, clubs, political groups, environmental initiatives, and the Protestant Johanneskirche.
Free admission. Payment for consumption directly at the stalls.
By S-Bahn: S1, S2, S3 to Schwabstraße (~5 min. walk) or Feuersee. By Stadtbahn (tram): U2, U9 to Schloss-/Johannesstraße. By Bus: 41, 44 to Feuersee. By Car: Parking is very limited — travel by public transport is strongly recommended.
Free admission. Payment for consumption directly at the stalls.
Come on Sunday for the closing sing-along — the atmosphere in front of the illuminated Johanneskirche by the lake is an experience in itself. For families, Saturday afternoon with the children's program and the MTV Stuttgart's Hosenboje is ideal.
