Diversity takes flight — the motto 2026

The motto "Diversity takes flight" programmatically expresses what the Festival of Cultures aims to convey: The cultural diversity of Winsen's society is a resource that enriches the community. Through dance, music, culinary delights, and opportunities for interaction, the festival makes diversity visible and creates spaces for exchange.

Town Hall Square as the central festival grounds

The Rathausspitze (Town Hall Square) in Winsen (Luhe) is the central square in front of the town hall and is ideal for large events with a stage, stalls, and seating areas. Its central location in the town center ensures good accessibility and integrates the festival into daily urban life.

Communities from all over the world

The list of participating communities reflects the intercultural mosaic of the region: African communities, the Turkish-Islamic community DITIB Muradiye, the Ukrainian community, representatives from Pakistan, Iraq, Liberia, and other countries are participating with their own program items. Each group designs its contribution independently, thus bringing its cultural identity into the shared festival framework.

Stage, dance, and music

The dance group Kalinka will start the stage program, followed by further dance and music contributions from the communities. Performances will alternate throughout the day, allowing visitors to gain continuous new impressions. The musical spectrum ranges from African drums to Eastern European folklore and oriental sounds.

Winsen Music School and family program

The Winsen Music School offers craft and instrumental activities for children, making the festival particularly family-friendly. Children can try out instruments, learn simple songs, and create craft projects. These interactive elements promote access to music and are an important educational component of the festival.
