Festival Euroclassic — a cross-border project
The Festival Euroclassic was founded in 1994 with the aim of promoting classical and crossover music in the Greater Region Saar-Palatinate-Pays de Bitche while fostering cross-border cultural contacts. The Greater Region encompasses parts of Rhineland-Palatinate (Westpfalz, Südwestpfalz), Saarland, and neighboring Lorraine — particularly the Pays de Bitche. Over the years, the festival has become a firm fixture in the southwestern German classical calendar.
33rd Edition 2026
With its 33rd edition in 2026, the festival continues its ongoing work. The 2026 season will feature approximately 27 events, taking place between September and October in various concert halls and churches across the Greater Region — Zweibrücken (Festhalle), Pirmasens (Festhalle), Blieskastel, and other venues.
Theme "The Golden Twenties"
The annual theme "The Golden Twenties" aligns the festival with Rhineland-Palatinate's 2026 Kultursommer (Cultural Summer) theme. The 1920s were a period of musical innovation — jazz entered the European cultural scene, Stravinsky and Schoenberg revolutionized classical music, and operetta and cabaret shaped entertainment life. The festival presents works and interpretations that do justice to this spirit of departure.
Opening Concert with the Original Prague Syncopated Orchestra
The season opens on September 5, 2026, at 7:30 PM in the Festhalle Zweibrücken with the Original Prague Syncopated Orchestra. The Czech ensemble specializes in jazz and dance music from the 1920s and 30s, presenting authentic interpretations of the Golden Twenties. An ideal start to the season, making the festival's theme immediately tangible.
