Italian city festival on Jakobsplatz – five days of Dolce Vita in Nürnberg
Festa Italica is one of Nürnberg's newest and most rapidly established city festivals. For five days, a piece of Italy is set up on the central Jakobsplatz in the western Old Town: white pavilions, long wooden tables, vintage Vespa and Ape scooters, Mediterranean sounds, and what Italians call "La Dolce Vita." The festival's aim is to bring Italian food culture, music, and lifestyle to the heart of Franconia.
Participating restaurants and caterers serve antipasti, authentic Italian pizza, pasta, and sweet specialties like tiramisu and cannoli. The wine bar offers over 20 Italian wines from regions such as Piedmont, Tuscany, Apulia, and Sicily, alongside classic Italian aperitivos (Spritz, Campari, Negroni) and espresso and coffee specialties. The menus combine classic trattoria dishes with modern summer classics.
Italian bands and solo artists perform on all festival days. The program ranges from cantautori classics (Lucio Battisti, Eros Ramazzotti, Adriano Celentano) to pop cover bands, acoustic sets, and DJ sessions. Italian dance performances and show acts complement the musical offerings.
The organizer of Festa Italica Nürnberg is Zametzer & Krohn GbR from Poxdorf, which has extensive experience with Notte Italiana and other Italian festivals in Bavaria. The festival is under the patronage of Nürnberg's Mayor Marcus König and is part of the city's program of district and summer festivals.
Nürnberg, the largest city in Middle Franconia and a district-free city in the state of Bavaria, has maintained close ties with Italian partner cities and communities for decades. Festa Italica builds on this tradition and complements the city's diverse summer festival program – including the Bardentreffen, district festivals, and the famous Bergkirchweih in neighboring Erlangen.
The second edition of Festa Italica runs for five days and offers a different musical focus each day. The official opening is on Wednesday evening by Mayor Marcus König.
Over twenty Italian wines from Piedmont, Tuscany, Apulia, Sicily, and other regions, plus aperitivos, espresso specialties, and authentic Italian pizza, antipasti, and dolci. The wine bar is open daily until the end of the event.
