About Sommerweinhock
Sommerweinhock — edition 2026
The Weingärtner Horrheim-Gündelbach eG have scheduled the Sommerweinhock for Saturday, August 15, 2026, on Ascension Day. The main venue is the hall of the winery cooperative with outdoor service around the cooperative building in Horrheim.
You'll spend a day dedicated to the spirit of the "weinhock": cozy tables, the cooperative's current selection served openly, and a Vesper menu prepared in-house. Live music, as is customary at a classic cooperative gathering, takes a backseat; the focus is on conviviality and conversation about wine.
Highlights Sommerweinhock 2026
- Stromberg wine hock on Ascension Day
- Current selection from Weingärtner Horrheim-Gündelbach served openly
- Homemade Swabian Vesper cuisine

A Summer Classic from the Stromberg Winegrowers
Right in the heart of the Württemberg wine region, nestled in the gentle slopes of the Stromberg, Weingärtner Horrheim-Gündelbach eG has been hosting the Sommerweinhock every August 15th for years. You'll visit a district of Vaihingen an der Enz known for its tradition and vibrant club life – and for vineyards like the Klosterberg, which are among the defining vineyards of the Stromberg.
Ascension Day as a Festival Day in the Wine Year
August 15th, while not a public holiday in Baden-Württemberg, is nevertheless a traditional summer festival day in the predominantly Catholic Stromberg-Heuchelberg region. The Horrheim winegrowers use it for a relaxed gathering, right between the intensive phases of vine care and the upcoming harvest. You'll experience an event that doesn't rely on big show stages – and precisely for that reason, it showcases the honest face of Swabian wine culture.
What awaits you
- Wine service with the cooperative's current selection: Trollinger, Lemberger, Schwarzriesling, Riesling, and Cuvées from the Stromberg
- Homemade Vesper and warm dishes from the cooperative's Vesperstube (snack bar)
- Cozy seating in the hall and on the outdoor area of the winery cooperative
- A program focused entirely on socializing – ideal for families, hiking groups from the Württemberger Weinwanderweg (Swabian Wine Trail), and wine lovers from the entire Ludwigsburg district
Discover Horrheim as a Wine Village
Before you enter the hall, a stroll through Horrheim is worthwhile. The village is characterized by half-timbered houses, vineyards, and old winegrowers' homes. Within sight of the winery cooperative, marked trails lead through the vines – such as the Württemberger Weinwanderweg, which runs across the Stromberg panorama to Roßwag and further towards Vaihingen. An ideal appetizer for the wine hock.
Practical Information about the Date
Since the Sommerweinhock often falls on a weekday, it serves as a bridge holiday for many working people in the region. Don't plan your visit too late: the cooperative spirit thrives on the long afternoon and the relaxed transition into the evening, rather than a late open-air party.
