The new Großbottwar club festival — successor to the traditional street festival
For 50 years, the people of Großbottwar celebrated their traditional street festival in the old town. In 2025, there was a restart: The festival moved to the spacious open area between the Harzberghalle and Wunnensteinhalle on the outskirts of the city — with better safety conditions, more space, and direct proximity to the "Stadt am Bach" leisure area. In 2026, "Fest am Bach" will take place for its second edition from September 4th to 6th.
Friday, September 4th, starts at 6 PM with DJ sound and after-work vibes in the festival tent. Saturday, September 5th, begins at 4 PM with the official opening; from 4:30 PM, the Großbottwar Music Association will play until the evening program. Sunday, September 6th, is Family Day with a church service at 10:30 AM, followed by a Frühshoppen (morning pint), and harmonica orchestras and accordion ensembles in the afternoon.
A unique feature of "Fest am Bach" is its direct proximity to the "Stadt am Bach" leisure facilities: a modern pumptrack for mountain bikes and BMX, a bouldering wall for climbing experiences, and a zipline. During the festival, visitors can use the facilities — a particularly attractive combination for families with children.
A total of nine Großbottwar clubs and organizations operate the catering stalls. The culinary offerings range from Swabian classics like "Eselsohren" (traditional Swabian pastries) to Italian pizza, grilled meat specialties, and vegetarian options. On Sunday, there will also be a children's flea market.
The town of Großbottwar, with around 8,000 inhabitants, is located in the Ludwigsburg district in the Bottwartal valley — a small but significant wine region between Heilbronn and Marbach. The medieval old town with its famous Gothic town hall is one of the most beautiful townscapes in Württemberg. "Fest am Bach" continues the city's traditional festival culture in a new, more modern setting.
From Friday, September 4th, to Sunday, September 6th, 2026, the Fest am Bach Großbottwar will take place for its second edition. On the spacious festival grounds between the Harzberghalle and Wunnensteinhalle, nine Großbottwar clubs are organizing the festival together with the city administration.
The proximity to the "Stadt am Bach" leisure facility with its pumptrack, bouldering wall, and zipline makes the festival particularly family-friendly — children can use the facilities while adults relax at the festival tent. The culinary variety ranges from Swabian "Eselsohren" to Italian pizza and vegetarian specialties.
Free admission to the entire festival grounds. Food and drinks at the club stalls at usual festival prices. Pumptrack, bouldering wall, and zipline freely accessible during the festival.
