The Fieldstone Pyramid Garzau — A Märkisch Landmark

In the south of the Märkische Schweiz Nature Park, on the outskirts of Garzau (municipality of Garzau-Garzin, district of Märkisch-Oderland), stands a true curiosity: the Fieldstone Pyramid Garzau, a pyramid built from Märkisch glacial erratic boulders in 1784/89 according to plans by David Gilly. It is the only stone pyramid of its kind in Germany and is considered a memorial structure in the English landscape garden of the former von Schmettau family. In summer, it becomes a concert backdrop — not a concert hall, but an open space with a special acoustic and a special history.

The Janine Vahldiek Band — Harp Meets Ukulele

The evening's main act is the Janine Vahldiek Band with their "Gute Laune Tour." Janine Vahldiek plays orchestral harp and sings, Steffen Haß adds percussion, ukulele, ukulele bass, and Hawaiian guitar. The repertoire consists exclusively of original compositions, which are off the beaten path — an exotic sound combination that unfolds a special effect in the historic structure of the pyramid. Concert start: 4 PM.

Art and Lecture — The Afternoon Before

The cultural program begins in the early afternoon. Starting at 1 PM, the art exhibition "In the Changing of the Seasons" with paintings and graphics by Martina Bittner opens in the interior of the pyramid — a rarely used space that becomes a gallery for this occasion. Starting at 2:30 PM, Dr. Christian Reimann will give a lecture titled "Landscape Gardens as Metaphors of the Life Journey" — a philosophical approach to the concept of the English landscape garden, which originally completed the pyramid. The individual program items are subject to separate admission fees.

A Special Place in the Märkische Schweiz

The event fits the tone of the Märkische Schweiz: small towns, great culture, often in surprising locations. Those who are hiking in the nature park or visiting Buckow, Waldsieversdorf, or Müncheberg anyway can ideally combine the concert afternoon with a summer holiday in the Brandenburg hinterland — about an hour's drive from Berlin.
