Autumn on the Market Square

As summer draws to a close, Rhauderfehn invites you to the Fehntjer Herbstmarkt. For three days, the central market square of the Fehngemeinde transforms into a classic autumn Volksfest (popular festival) with rides, showman stalls, and a rich gastronomic offer. Purveyors of regional specialties—from apple juice to East Frisian sausage—give the market its autumnal profile.

Market Operations and Weekly Market Relocation

Since the regular weekly market cannot take place on the market square during the Herbstmarkt operations, it is relocated to the Futterhaus parking lot in Rhauderfehn for the duration of the market. This practice ensures that the weekly supply of fresh food for the population is not affected, while simultaneously making space for the large Volksfest on the market square.

Program and Atmosphere

Families will find carousels, children's rides, and hands-on activities, while adults can enjoy snack and drink stands, as well as the typical local mix of showmen and market vendors. The atmosphere is family-friendly, quieter than at the large Frühjahrsmarkt, but equally authentic in the character of an East Frisian Volksfest.

Embedded in the Festival Year

Together with the Fehntjer Frühjahrsmarkt on Ascension Day and the German Mill Day, the Herbstmarkt forms a well-thought-out event series for the Rhauderfehn municipality. The date is reliably entered in the showman association's market calendar.
