37th Edesheim Wine Exchange on March 21, 2026 — Palatinate Wine Festival for the Almond Blossom with the motto 'Rosé for the Almond Blossom', from 2 PM Town Hall opening until 9:30 PM
With its 37th edition in 2026, the Edesheim Wine Exchange is one of the most established events of the Palatinate spring season. The festival is part of the traditional almond blossom season kickoff — a weekend series where the Palatinate wine villages host their first major wine festivals of the year. The Vorderpfalz is one of Germany's earliest spring regions; the almond trees typically bloom pink and white between mid-March and early April.
Edesheim is a traditional Palatinate wine village on the Deutsche Weinstraße, located between Edenkoben and Landau. The village has about 2,300 inhabitants and is characterized by a high density of wineries and well-maintained Palatinate architecture — half-timbered facades, a historic town hall, and a charming village center.
The 2026 motto — 'Rosé for the Almond Blossom' — combines two Palatinate specialties. The Almond Blossom is the visual hallmark of the Palatinate spring: hundreds of thousands of almond trees along the Wine Route bloom simultaneously, bathing the landscape in delicate pink. Rosé wine is one of the Palatinate's strengths — the region produces excellent rosé wines from Spätburgunder, Portugieser, Saint Laurent, and other red grape varieties. The color symmetry between blooming almonds and rosé wine tones is programmatic.
The Edesheim Wine Exchange follows a clear structure. 2 PM: Opening at the Town Hall with a traditional keg tapping ceremony, welcome by the organizers, and initial program points. From 2:30 PM: Admission to all participating wineries — visitors can stroll from winery to winery and taste wines at each location. 9:30 PM: Festival end. This structure — opening in the central square, followed by decentralized wine service at the wineries — is a classic Palatinate wine mile format.
The focus of the wine tasting in 2026 will be on rosé wines. The spectrum of Palatinate rosé styles is broad: from light, salmon-colored rosés made from Spätburgunder to fuller-bodied rosés with distinct berry fruit, and even sparkling rosé made using the traditional bottle fermentation method. The Edesheim vintners will present their own rosé wines, complemented by white wines (Riesling, Weißburgunder, Müller-Thurgau) and red wines.
The 37th edition in 2026 joins the established Palatinate spring wine festival season. Edesheim's wineries open their courtyards for wine tasting and sampling.
