„Familien-Stadtfest 2.0“ – Family is where the heart calls home
While many city festivals focus on beer tents, showmen, and large stages, the Familien-Stadtfest in Liebenwalde takes a different approach: The focus is on families — with small, accessible activities, with games for children between 2 and 14 years old, and with intergenerational encounters. The organizer is the social support organization Brandenburger Kinderland — Die Jugendhilfe GmbH, managed by Tobias Pernitzsch, which has been hosting the festival for several years.
The festival grounds Am Kietz at Berliner Straße 50 B in Liebenwalde will be buzzing with activity from the morning onwards. Stations with a bouncy castle, Bobby car races, competitive games, face painting, and craft activities will be set up on the meadow and in the courtyard. A stage will provide live music, dance groups, and children's entertainment. Clubs, regional vendors, and food trucks will offer hearty meals, sweets, and drinks. Admission is free.
Liebenwalde is located in the northern district of Oberhavel, nestled in a landscape of forests, lakes, and moors. The small town has around 4,500 inhabitants and is a good starting point for tours into the Stechlin-Ruppiner Land Nature Park or the Liebenwalder Forst. The Familien-Stadtfest fits well with this quiet, nature-oriented profile: a day on which the town celebrates its own families.
The fact that the festival is organized by a youth welfare organization is unusual — and shapes its character. Brandenburger Kinderland is known in the region as a provider of child and youth welfare services. The city festival is part of its public relations and networking efforts with the social environment: parents, grandparents, and children meet, clubs present themselves, and in the end, it's a festival created by the town for the town.
Under the motto “Family is where the heart calls home!”, families with children between 2 and 14 years old will be the focus on June 6, 2026. A bouncy castle, hands-on stations, live music, and culinary stands will characterize the day. Free admission.
The festival is intentionally kept small-scale — no big stage, but rather closeness and a high degree of self-engagement. This clearly distinguishes the Liebenwalde format from larger city festivals and emphasizes its social function in the small town.
