150 Years of Dedicated Fire Protection
The Ermetzhofen Volunteer Fire Brigade was founded in 1876 and will look back on 150 years of voluntary service in 2026. During this time, the brigade has responded to countless incidents, trained generations of firefighters, and significantly shaped the social life of the village of Ermetzhofen. The anniversary celebration on the last weekend of May 2026 honors this tradition with a three-day festival program.
Ermetzhofen – District of the Municipality of Ergersheim
Ermetzhofen is one of the districts of the municipality of Ergersheim in the district of Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim in the state of Bavaria. The municipality of Ergersheim also includes the districts of Ergersheim, Neuherberg, and Seenheim. Ermetzhofen is located in western Middle Franconia, nestled in an agriculturally shaped hilly landscape on the edge of the Steigerwald forest.
Ceremonial Event, Service, and Parade
The festive weekend follows the classic structure of a Middle Franconian fire brigade anniversary: The kick-off on Friday, May 29th, will be a solemn ceremonial event in the festival tent with honors for long-standing members and speeches. Saturday, May 30th, features the youth program with live music and a dance evening. The highlight on Sunday, May 31st, will be the church service, followed by lunch and the grand parade with delegations from friendly fire brigades from across the district.
The Fire Brigade Family in the NEA-BW District
Delegations from all fire brigades in the district of Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim, the youth fire brigades of the Uffenheim administrative association, and guests of honor from local politics and the church are expected. This strong participation underscores the importance of the FF Ermetzhofen for the region's fire protection and the close ties between the fire brigades in Middle Franconia.
Festival Tent, Music, and Franconian Hospitality
Bands from Middle Franconia will provide the atmosphere in the festival tent: brass band music during the Frühschoppen, dance bands in the evening, and a party band on Saturday evening. Bratwürste (sausages), Schäuferla (pork shoulder), homemade cakes, and beer from a regional Franconian brewery characterize the catering. A children's program with a bouncy castle and hands-on activities related to fire brigade technology is also part of the festive weekend.
150 Years FF Ermetzhofen — edition 2026
The 2026 anniversary edition of the FF Ermetzhofen brings three days of celebration to the district of the municipality of Ergersheim. The kick-off will be the ceremonial event on Friday evening with honors, speeches, and musical accompaniment by a brass band.
Saturday is dedicated to dancing and fun: a party band will create a lively atmosphere in the festival tent. The highlight is Sunday with a church service, a joint meal, and the grand parade through Ermetzhofen, in which brigades from the entire district and the Uffenheim administrative association will participate.

Ermetzhofen is located near the A7 motorway between Uffenheim and Bad Windsheim. By car via the A7 (exit Uffenheim or Marktbreit) and then via country roads. Parking is available on the outskirts of the village with signs to the festival grounds.

Bus lines from Uffenheim and Bad Windsheim. Nearest train stations: Uffenheim and Bad Windsheim on the Würzburg–Nuremberg line.
