8th Edition — Scandinavia as Guest Region, almost 12 weeks of concerts, readings, exhibitions
The European Summer of Culture has been the signature festival of the city of Fellbach in the Remstal valley since 2019. Each year, the city's cultural department selects a region of Europe as its guest region and designs a three-month program of events around its culture, music, literature, and design. Previous guest regions: Italy, Spain, France, the Iberian Peninsula, the Mediterranean region.
The 8th edition from May 9 to July 25, 2026 focuses on Denmark, Norway, and Sweden – a packed program of folk, jazz, classical, pop, and crossover music, complemented by design exhibitions, pop-up cafés, and a Midsummer Festival. Ticket pre-sales began on April 20 via the i-Punkt Fellbach (phone 0711/580058).
Fellbach (Rems-Murr district) is located on the outskirts of the Stuttgart region, nestled among the vineyards of the Kappelberg. The festival uses the Schwabenlandhalle (Tainer Straße) as its central concert venue, the Stadtgalerie for exhibitions, the Stadtmuseum for the annual main exhibition, as well as open spaces and smaller venues. The close connection to the region is also maintained through catering, featuring regional wines from Fellbacher Lemberger to Scandinavian specialties.
The European Summer of Culture is one of the few summer festivals in Baden-Württemberg that systematically dedicates itself to a single guest region and unfolds it across multiple genres and three months. For Nordic culture in 2026, this means: not just folk concerts, but also design, literature, architecture, and culinary experiences – a cohesive immersion that is rare in this form.
The 8th edition of the Summer of Culture spans nearly 12 weeks: May 9 to July 25, 2026. The Scandinavia program is spread across the Schwabenlandhalle (concerts), the City Museum (design exhibition), the City Gallery (LEGO reading café), and open-air grounds (Midsummer).
