International Gala of the High School of Equestrian Art in the Historic Riding Hall of Bückeburg Castle
The Princely Riding School Bückeburg is one of the few living centers of classical equestrian art in Europe. In the historic riding hall of Bückeburg Castle, daily lessons of the High School of Equestrian Art are presented according to Baroque tradition – Piaffe, Passage, School jumps over the earth, pirouettes, single and double rein work. The Julianes Carrousel Equestrian Art Gala is the annual choreographic-musical highlight, condensing this tradition into a festive stage event.
The gala consists of several interconnected scenes. Pas de Deux with two stallions and riders, quadrilles with four or more horses, long-rein work, ground work, and exhibition figures with Baroque costumes form the artistic framework. The musical accompaniment ranges from Baroque music to classical works and contemporary film compositions. Choreography, lighting, and stage design make the gala a comprehensive theatrical experience.
In addition to the in-house riders and stallions, the riding school regularly invites international guest riders and affiliated stables. Representatives of classical schools from Vienna, Lisbon, Jerez, and other centers of equestrian art participate with guest performances – a unique format that makes the Bückeburg gala a meeting point for the international scene.
The Bückeburg Castle Riding Hall is one of the most impressive riding halls in Europe. With its richly decorated interior, audience galleries, and perfect acoustics, it offers a backdrop worthy of a High School performance. The surrounding castle ensemble, with its Baroque park and mausoleum, invites a visit before and after the performance.
For the gala, the Bückeburg Castle Riding Hall transforms into a stage with gallery seating for the audience. The atmosphere, the close proximity to the horses, and the hall's acoustics make every performance an intimate experience.
In addition to the in-house stallions, guest riders and affiliated equestrian art centers present their exhibitions. The exact program sequence will be announced shortly before the gala.
The exact program and the list of participating horses and riders will be published by the organizer in spring 2026. The structure follows the established key points:
