Premiere in the Lower Rhine — Triathlon Meets Natural Bathing

The Lower Rhine region is getting its new sporting highlight in 2026: the Enni Triathlon Moers. On Sunday, June 7, 2026, triathletes will start for the first time at the Bettenkamper Meer, a natural swimming lake in the Moers Leisure Park. The organizer is the energy provider Enni Energie & Umwelt Niederrhein, which gives the triathlon its name and organizes it together with local sports clubs.

Swim — Bike — Run in the Lower Rhine

The course utilizes three perfectly coordinated Lower Rhine landscapes: The swim takes place in the Bettenkamper Meer — a natural swimming lake with a reed belt and clear water, one of the cleanest swimming lakes in the Ruhr area. The cycling leads out of the leisure park into the typical Lower Rhine cultural landscape with fields, rows of poplar trees, and small farms — flat, fast, ideal for personal best times. The run takes place in the Moers Castle Park, a romantic English landscape park surrounding the historic castle building. A triathlon with a scenic landscape — rare in this combination.

Five Distances from Beginner to Short Distance

The Enni Triathlon deliberately offers five distances to appeal to both absolute beginners and experienced triathletes:

• Enni Fitness Distance (250 m swim / 10 km bike / 3 km run) — Beginner format
• Sprint Distance (500 m / 19 km / 5 km) — Competition format for ambitious hobby athletes
• Short Distance (1,000 m / 37 km / 10 km) — Olympic distance for trained athletes
• Sprint Relay — Sprint distance as a 3-person team
• Short Relay — Short distance as a 3-person team

This makes the Enni Triathlon one of the most versatile premiere events in the German triathlon scene.

600 Starting Places — Quickly Sold Out

Despite being a premiere, the Enni Triathlon attracted 600 registrations from across the state of North Rhine-Westphalia within days — all starting places were already taken weeks before the competition date. There is no waiting list. Those who couldn't compete in 2026 should register significantly earlier in 2027 — the 2nd edition is expected to sell out even faster.

Family Program in the Leisure Park

Around the competition, there is a family program in the Moers Leisure Park: children's activities, catering, live commentary, and a finish area with an open-air stage. The Moers Leisure Park, with its high ropes course, the Bettenkamp bathing landscape, and the zoo, is one of the most popular excursion destinations in the southern Lower Rhine region — a visit on June 7 is worthwhile even without a triathlon registration.

Wesel District / Lower Rhine — Young Sporting Format

Moers is located in the Wesel District in the lower Lower Rhine region, between Duisburg and Krefeld — a region where triathlon is deeply rooted (Lower Rhine Triathlon Association, several clubs in Moers, Duisburg, Krefeld). The Enni Triathlon fills a noticeable gap: until now, there was no established summer triathlon format in the southern Wesel District. The premiere on June 7, 2026, closes this gap and marks the start of a planned annual repetition.
