Emden Ice Age Opening Party

Kick-off for the 2026 Ice Age Season

The Ice Age in Emden, with its 1,100 square meters of ice surface, is the largest temporary ice rink in northwestern Germany. The season opening on January 24, 2026, is traditionally a significant ceremonial act that ushers in the ice rink season and attracts a broad audience from Emden and the surrounding area. With live music and festive lighting, the hall is brought into an atmosphere that goes far beyond the later pure ice rink operation.

Cover Band Sixpack

The cover band Sixpack is well-known in the East Frisian music scene and offers a wide cover repertoire of pop, rock, and classics from the 80s to the 2010s. At the 2026 opening party, the band provides the musical accompaniment and a festival tent atmosphere where not only skaters but also spectators and party guests get their money's worth.

Festive Character

While the regular ice rink operation during the day is family-oriented, the opening party has an evening festive character. The hall is atmospherically lit, catering with hot drinks, cocktails, snacks, and main courses is set up, and ice skates can be rented on-site as usual.

Ice Age Season until March 1

Following the opening party, regular Ice Age operation continues until March 1, 2026. During this time, the rink will be open daily for public ice skating, with exclusive access for kindergartens and schools on weekday mornings. Further special events will complement the season.
