Elsfleth Harbour Festival — Shipmaster Town Celebrates its Harbour
Elsfleth is a traditional shipmaster town at the mouth of the Hunte into the Weser, home to the Elsfleth Maritime Academy and numerous shipping companies. The annual Elsfleth Harbour Festival on the quay is therefore one of the town's identity-forming events. In summer, the harbour front transforms into a colourful festival mile with music, catering, and maritime atmosphere.
Live Music with Lokalpiloten and Shantychor Visurgis
Musically, the Lokalpiloten — a well-known regional band — provide live music with a Schlager, pop, and rock cover programme. The Shantychor Visurgis brings the appropriate maritime sound to the harbour festival with sea shanties. Both acts have been recurring performers in recent years and fit perfectly with the character of the festival.
Frühschoppen and Harbour Events
A classic Frühschoppen (morning pint) with beer, bratwurst, and North German specialities is part of the programme, as are various harbour events — depending on the annual plan, boat presentations, shanty choir meetings, or short harbour tours.
Date 2026
The exact date for 2026 will be announced by the town of Elsfleth in spring. In 2024, the harbour festival took place on the first weekend of July (Sunday, July 7th); a summer date is planned again for 2026.
Meeting Point by the Water
For the residents of Elsfleth and the surrounding area, the harbour festival is a central summer meeting point. Families, shipping enthusiasts, club members, and holiday guests mingle on the quay, enjoy the live music, and take the opportunity to spend a relaxed day by the water. Free admission.
