Electric Visions Open Air — Festival in the Amusement Park
On Sunday, August 30, 2026, Electric Visions Open Air at Wunderland Kalkar will open its stages for a unique festival concept: three stages spread throughout the amusement park, plus live music, comedy, and dance — and the unusual opportunity to also use the park's rides between acts.
Concept — Park Meets Festival
What makes Electric Visions special: It combines the amusement park feeling with a classic festival atmosphere. Three stages are spread across the entire park grounds — visitors can flexibly switch between music genres, comedy acts, and dance performances. The entire area becomes a stage, every corner of the park an experience.
Wunderland Kalkar — The Park Behind the Festival
Wunderland Kalkar is one of Germany's most unusual amusement parks: It is located on the site of the never-commissioned Kalkar fast breeder reactor (SNR-300) — a gigantic nuclear power plant project from the 1970s that never went online after the Chernobyl disaster in 1986. Today, the mighty cooling tower and the former reactor buildings shape the park's silhouette. The park offers carousels, play areas, restaurants, and hotel accommodation — and is thus a fully explorable experience location during the festival.
Program — Music, Comedy, Dance
Electric Visions focuses on diverse content:
- Live Acts — Pop, Rock, and electronic music on the main stages
- Comedy Acts — Stand-up comedians and improvisation theater
- Dance Performances — Show dance and choreographic performances
- Specials — Highlights and surprise moments spread throughout the day
Kalkar — Town on the Lower Rhine
The town of Kalkar (around 14,000 inhabitants) is located in the district of Kleve on the lower Rhine (North Rhine-Westphalia), near the Dutch border. The town is known for its historic old town with a Gothic parish church, town hall, and mill. With Wunderland Kalkar, the town has a magnet for tourism from Germany and the Netherlands, attracting hundreds of thousands annually.
