Brandenburg's traditional flower and citizens' festival on the outskirts of Berlin
The tradition of the Eichwalde Rose Festival dates back to the 1960s. From a small flower show, it has developed over more than half a century into one of the largest neighborhood festivals in southern Berlin. Eichwalde, located on Lake Zeuthen between Berlin and the Spreewald, presents itself on the second weekend in June with a three-day festival mile along Bahnhofstraße. The festival is considered a cultural flagship of the municipality in the Dahme-Spreewald district.
The focus is on the classic components: The rose exhibition showcases breeds from regional and supra-regional rose enthusiasts, the election of the Rose Queen is a social highlight, and the Rose Punch – a traditional festival drink based on fresh rose petals – is served in the bars and stalls along the festival mile. In addition, there is a rose race, music and dance performances, as well as a market with crafts, regional products, and floristry.
The 58th Rose Festival runs from Friday, June 12th, to Sunday, June 14th, 2026. The festival mile opens on Fridays from 5 PM with the opening concert, on Saturdays from 10 AM to midnight, and on Sundays from 10 AM to 6 PM. The exact program details are traditionally published by the Local History Association a few weeks before the festival.
Eichwalde is located directly on the Berlin city limits, the end station of the S-Bahn line S46 (Königs Wusterhausen). The proximity to the capital makes the Rose Festival a meeting point for Berlin day-trippers as well. Bahnhofstraße connects the S-Bahn station, the town hall, and Lake Zeuthen – the entire festival mile with market stalls, a stage, a festival tent, and stalls from Eichwalde associations stretches along this axis.
The festival is organized by the Eichwalde Local History Association, which has been shaping the festival on a voluntary basis for decades. Applications for stallholders and program updates can be made through the association's office at Bahnhofstraße 6 (Wednesdays 3 PM–5 PM) and via heimatverein-eichwalde.de.
Bahnhofstraße will be transformed into a three-day festival mile on the second weekend in June. Opening on Friday from 5 PM with a concert. Saturday from 10 AM to midnight, Sunday from 10 AM to 6 PM. Information on increased security requirements and access controls has been announced by the Local History Association.
The detailed daily program will be published by the Eichwalde Local History Association a few weeks before the festival on heimatverein-eichwalde.de.
