Apple wine festival at the gateway to Bavarian Ebbelwoi-Land
Niedernberg is located on the Untermain river in the Miltenberg district, in Bavarian Lower Franconia. Geographically, the village belongs to the border region where the Hessian apple wine tradition (»Ebbelwoi«) is also cultivated beyond the state border. The Ebbelwoifest of the Niedernberg Volunteer Fire Brigade embraces this identity — as a tribute to the drink that has been pressed in the Rhine-Main area and on the Untermain for centuries.
Bavaria, Miltenberg district, Untermain — Niedernberg belongs to the only region in Bavaria where the apple wine culture is as deeply rooted as in Frankfurt, Hesse. Here, Ebbelwoi is not just a casual drink but an integral part of the local identity, with orchards in the surrounding area forming the scenic backdrop.
The Ebbelwoifest of the FFW Niedernberg is traditionally held in early summer. For 2026, the estimated date is the first weekend of July. The venue is the center of Niedernberg at the festival grounds near the Rotkreuzhaus. The exact date and the 2026 festival program will be announced in good time by the FFW Niedernberg and the municipality on niedernberg.de.
The detailed 2026 program will be published by the FFW Niedernberg.
