Spring market with children's flea market on 10,000 m² — 100 stalls + 250 children's flea market vendors
The Dürener Frühlingsfest is one of the largest spring markets in the Rhineland — with a market area of around 10,000 square meters, it extends over the entire central axis of Düren's city center. The organizer is the City of Düren. The 2026 edition runs from Saturday, March 28 to Monday, March 30, 2026 — traditionally the weekend before Easter.
The exhibitors are divided into two categories: Around 100 professional dealers, mainly from the Cologne–Bonn–Aachen region, present goods ranging from fashion and shoes to plants and garden decorations to household items on the main axis. In addition, 200 to 250 children's flea market vendors offer toys, books, children's clothing, and everything from children's rooms at their own stand spaces (3-meter stands for €15 per day). In total, this results in a market length of around 1,500 running meters.
A Düren specialty: On Saturday, the "Trödelkönig" (Flea Market King) or "Trödelkönigin" (Flea Market Queen) will be chosen — the best children's flea market stall of the day with the most creative and original sales strategies. A jury of city representatives will evaluate the stalls based on assortment, presentation, and customer friendliness. The winner receives a small prize and the right to call themselves Düren's Flea Market King for a year.
Three children's carousels are located in central squares — even though the spring festival is not a Volksfest with amusement rides, there is a small entertainment offering for the youngest. Culinary highlights include: Goulash, Pizza, Waffles, fresh fruit, and a café service with coffee specialties. The food stalls are distributed throughout the entire market route.
The official opening takes place on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 11:00 AM in Kölnstraße / corner Wirtelstraße. Opening hours on all three days: 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. On Sunday from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM, the shops in the city center open (Sunday shopping) — the combination of the spring market and shopping attracts around 50,000 to 60,000 visitors to the city every year.
Düren is the district capital of the Düren district in North Rhine-Westphalia with around 92,000 inhabitants, located on the edge of the Voreifel. Besides the Annakirmes, the spring festival is the second major event component with which Düren's city marketing enlivens the city center — and the proportion of children's flea markets positively distinguishes the format from similar spring markets in other cities.
The Dürener Frühlingsfest 2026 will transform the entire city center into a huge spring market for three days — the main axis from Kölnstraße via Marktplatz to Kaiserplatz will be the scene for 100 professional dealers and 250 children's flea market vendors on 10,000 m². Opening Saturday 11:00 AM.
On Sunday from 1 PM to 6 PM, the shops in Düren's city center will open for Sunday shopping. Spring market and shopping merge — the format has proven itself and is consistently promoted by city marketing.
