Benefit concert by the Hanover Federal Police Orchestra as part of the Duderstadt Summer of Culture
The Duderstadt Summer of Culture charity concert is a regular fixture in early summer and is considered the most musically sophisticated format in the series. The venue is the Stadtpark Auf dem Graben, where the open-air stage is positioned so that the natural ambiance of the park optimally enhances the sound of the large orchestra.
In the 2026 season, the renowned Hanover Federal Police Orchestra will perform in Duderstadt. Consisting of around 50 musicians, this symphonic wind orchestra is one of the major professional orchestras in Lower Saxony and performs regularly at home and abroad. Its repertoire ranges from classical symphonic wind music and marches to film themes and arrangements of current pop and rock titles.
The event continues the tradition of Eichsfeld's benefit culture. Admission fees are traditionally dedicated to local social institutions and initiatives. Thus, the concert combines a listening experience with concrete social benefit and, at the same time, offers broad access to symphonic wind music for an audience that rarely encounters it.
Duderstadt City Park is located between the historic old town and the Westerturm. For the charity concert, a reduced, acoustically optimized stage setup will be created. Seating and standing areas will be available. Families, seniors, and concert enthusiasts from all over southern Lower Saxony are among the regular audience.
The benefit concert on May 31, 2026, brings one of North Germany's most distinguished symphonic wind orchestras, the Hanover Federal Police Orchestra, to Duderstadt City Park. The concert offers an accessible introduction to orchestral repertoire, combining well-known symphonic works with film and pop arrangements.
The proceeds from the concert support social institutions in the Eichsfeld region, continuing the tradition of Duderstadt benefit concerts. The selection of supported projects is made by the Summer of Culture initiative in coordination with local partners.
The Hanover Federal Police Orchestra typically designs its concert programs with a combination of classical symphonic wind music (works by Holst, Sousa, German composers), well-known film scores (John Williams, Hans Zimmer), marches from the German and Austrian repertoire, and arrangements of current pop and rock pieces. The exact program for 2026 will be announced by the orchestra in advance.
