Annual community festival of the Lauta-Dorf Heimatklub in the Upper Lusatia region
The Dorffest Lauta-Dorf is one of those small, heartfelt village festivals that shape social life in Upper Lusatia — not a major tourist event, but a community celebration for the residents and their guests. Every year in June, the Heimatklub Lauta-Dorf e. V. organizes a convivial afternoon and evening on the Dorfaue at the fire station — the central meeting place of the Lauta-Dorf district of the town of Lauta.
From 3:00 PM, the stalls of the Heimatklub and its partner associations will open. The program typically includes: early morning drinks with brass or accordion music, refreshments with bratwurst, cake, coffee, and drinks at club prices, small games for children, a bouncy castle, face painting, a raffle in the late afternoon, and live regional music or a DJ in the evening for a convivial end to the day. The exact program details will be announced by the Heimatklub in advance on the Lauta town website and via notices in the district.
Lauta-Dorf is one of the historic districts of the town of Lauta — alongside Lauta itself and Torno. The town of Lauta, with around 8,000 inhabitants, is located in the Bautzen district in the Upper Lusatian Heath and Pond Landscape. It is characterized by its former aluminum industry (Lautawerk) and its lignite mining past. The Lauta-Dorf district preserves a piece of village identity with its village festival, the Heimatklub, and the volunteer fire department in a region shaped by structural change.
The village festival is small, familial, and genuine. Anyone who happens upon it — tourists are welcome, but rare — will experience an authentic piece of Upper Lusatian village life. The residents know each other; the festival is an opportunity for encounters with old friends and new neighbors. The refreshments are affordable, the atmosphere is warm, and the crowds are manageable.
The 2026 village festival continues the annual tradition. The Heimatklub Lauta-Dorf e. V. is preparing the festival together with the volunteer fire department and partner associations. Stalls will open from 3:00 PM, and the program will run into the evening.
The full detailed program (musician performances, raffle times, closing dance) will be published shortly before the date on the Lauta town website and via notices in the district. Anyone looking for a real village festival without tourist fuss will find it here.
Exact times for individual program items will be announced by the Heimatklub shortly before the festival day.
Free admission. Food and drinks at association stalls at club prices — bratwurst approx. €3, beer approx. €3, cake approx. €2. Raffle tickets are sold separately (€1–€2 per ticket).
