Bavarian Village Festival with Music Band at the Foot of the Berchtesgadener Land
Piding is located in the Berchtesgadener Land district, between Bad Reichenhall and Freilassing. The municipality, with around 5,500 inhabitants, benefits from its location at the transition from the Saalach plain to the Berchtesgaden Alps – the Hochstaufen (1,771 m) is its landmark and local mountain. The Volunteer Fire Brigade's village festival is an important date in the Piding summer calendar.
The venue is the Lechsenwiese 6 multipurpose hall, a municipal building on the outskirts of town. In good weather, the festival takes place on the meadow in front of the hall, with long rows of tables, beer benches, and a stage for the music band. In case of bad weather, the entire festival is moved into the covered hall – a weather-independent solution that is particularly valuable for a summer festival in the pre-Alps.
The musical program is provided by the Piding Music Band – one of the municipality's traditional associations. The youth band of the music band kicks off at 5:30 PM, an important event for nurturing young talent. Starting at 6 PM, the main band takes over and plays Bavarian brass music, Schlager, and party music until late in the evening.
The village festival is a classic club festival: organized voluntarily by the members of the Piding Volunteer Fire Brigade, with support from the entire town. The proceeds go towards the club's activities – equipment purchases, youth work, and fire protection investments. Piding residents, summer guests, and visitors from the neighboring municipalities of Bad Reichenhall, Freilassing, and Saaldorf-Surheim meet at the long rows of tables.
On Saturday, July 18, 2026, the Piding Volunteer Fire Brigade invites you to the traditional village festival at the Lechsenwiese multipurpose hall.
