Four-day folk party festival with a Kerwe parade and ecumenical church service in the Frankenthal district
The Kerwe Flomersheim is one of the most important neighbourhood festivals in the south of Frankenthal. From 28 to 31 August 2026, the Kerweplatz in the Flomersheim district will transform into a four-day folk party festival with a Kerwe parade through the town, an ecumenical Kerwe church service, marquee catering, and live music. The date is confirmed in the official event calendar of Flomersheim.de.
The Kerwe is part of the traditional Palatinate Kerwe culture and brings together families and friends from the entire Frankenthal district and surrounding areas every year.
Flomersheim is a suburb of Frankenthal with a rural, village-like character. The Kerwe is the most important festival of the year here and the highlight of the local clubs' activities. For four days, the social life of the neighbourhood concentrates on the Kerweplatz and the festival marquee — a tradition that has grown over generations.
The programme runs from Friday, 28 August to Monday, 31 August 2026. It kicks off on Friday evening with the opening and live music, the main programme on Saturday and Sunday with the Kerwe parade and highlights, and concludes on Monday with a morning pint (Frühschoppen) and winding down.
The festival marquee is open all four days, with carousels and game stalls surrounding the square.A special feature of the Flomersheim Kerwe is the ecumenical church service. Catholic and Protestant congregations celebrate together — a sign of the established ecumenical understanding and the importance of the Kerwe as a neighbourhood festival that brings all residents together.
The Kerwe parade is the visual highlight. Floats with local themes, walking groups, dance groups, and music bands parade through the streets of Flomersheim. The floats are built over months of work by residents and clubs, humorously addressing themes from the neighbourhood.
The festival marquee is the heart of the Kerwe. Catering includes classic festival foods — bratwurst, steaks, fries, cakes —, draft beer, and Palatinate wine. Live bands and DJs provide music and a party atmosphere. The marquee is traditionally packed on weekend evenings.
The family programme is central during the day. Carousels, game stalls, a wheel of fortune, a bouncy castle, and face painting attract families to the Kerwe grounds. An intergenerational event that appeals to all age groups.
