About dokumentART

For over three decades, dokumentART has been a venue for strong cinematic voices. The European Film Festival in Neubrandenburg showcases documentary, hybrid, and experimental films that challenge genre boundaries and explore new narrative and aesthetic paths. From October 6 to 11, 2026, Kino Latücht invites you to the 32nd edition — with curated programmes, international guests, and films addressing the pressing issues of our time: new technologies, artificial intelligence, ecological exhaustion, and the transformation of community.

A European Festival for Authorial Film

dokumentART is one of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania's most traditional film festivals and has been a fixture in the European festival landscape for over 30 years. Organised by the association Latücht Film & Medien e.V., the festival is dedicated to documentary, hybrid, and experimental film — works that push genre boundaries and understand cinema as a space for social discourse.

Programmes and Sections

The festival presents documentary, fictional, and animated works from all over Europe. A newly conceived section, »Bridging Europe«, connects Germany, Poland, and France as a dialogical format: carefully curated pairs of short and feature films engage in thematic dialogues, creating connections across borders. The festival direction is by Magda Jaroszewicz and Lisa Siomicheva.

Awards

At the heart of the competition is the Latücht Prize of the Ministry for Education, Science and Culture of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, endowed with 5,000 Euros. An international jury of filmmakers, curators, and festival organisers will present the awards.

Kino Latücht in Neubrandenburg

The venue is Kino Latücht on Große Krauthöfer Straße in Neubrandenburg — a municipal art-house cinema that is also home to the organising association. Neubrandenburg is located in the Mecklenburg Lake District in the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. With dokumentART, the "City of Four Gates" makes a cultural statement of European reach every autumn.
