Late summer Palatinate Kerwe with approx. 15 serving points in lovingly decorated winegrowers' courtyards
The Diedesfelder Weinkerwe is the traditional late summer Kerwe of the Palatinate wine village Diedesfeld, one of the most charming of the eight wine villages of Neustadt an der Weinstraße. Diedesfeld is located at the foot of the Haardt mountains at the edge of the Palatinate Forest and is known for its distinctly dense winegrower courtyard character – an ideal prerequisite for a wine festival with a genuine courtyard atmosphere.
The 2026 edition takes place from Thursday, August 20th to Tuesday, August 25th – six festival days over the second to last weekend in August. This generous festival duration is a Palatinate specialty: unlike shorter Kerwen, the Diedesfelder Weinkerwe runs through the week, allowing for a relaxed festival atmosphere on weekdays with highlights on the weekend.
The characteristic feature of the Diedesfelder Kerwe are the approx. 15 serving points in lovingly decorated winegrowers' courtyards. Instead of a central festival ground, the event is spread throughout the entire village – from courtyard to courtyard, through narrow alleys, past Palatinate sandstone walls and almond trees. This structure allows guests to design their own festival tour through the village and taste Diedesfeld wines in different atmospheres.
Musically, the Kerwe is broadly positioned: brass music in modern arrangements, big band formations, and rock cover bands perform at various locations. This diversity is a hallmark of the Kerwe – from traditional Palatinate sounds during the morning pint to pop and rock evenings in the main tent.
Oenologically, the Diedesfeld wineries dominate with Riesling, Weißburgunder, Grauburgunder, and Spätburgunder from the vineyards along the Haardt mountains. Palatinate specialties – Saumagen, Bratwurst, Leberknödel, Quetschekuche, Flammkuchen – are offered in every courtyard. The family atmosphere and the intimate courtyard structure make the Diedesfelder Weinkerwe a Palatinate festival insider tip.
The 2026 edition of the Diedesfelder Weinkerwe comprises six festival days from August 20th to 25th. The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in spring/summer. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
The event is part of the rich Palatinate festival culture, which attracts thousands of visitors to the Neustadt an der Weinstraße region every year. The combination of wine culture, Palatinate hospitality, and established festival traditions forms the unmistakable identity of this Palatinate festival institution.
