Cologne's largest right-bank street festival — two days of stage program and family time
Cologne, Germany's fourth-largest city and the capital of the Rhineland, has always been divided by the Rhine — and the Schäl Sick (right-bank side of the city) is often viewed with ironic distance by the Kölsch self-image of the "real" left bank. This distance is more posturing than reality today: districts like Mülheim, Buchforst, Holweide, Höhenberg, and Dellbrück have developed their own identities. Dellbrück, with just under 14,000 inhabitants in the Mülheim district, is one of the more affluent right-bank districts with an active club and business scene. Dellbrücker Hauptstraße forms the economic center.
According to the organizers, the Dellbrücker Festmeile is the largest street festival on Cologne's right bank. With this self-assessment, the district consciously positions itself against the large left-bank events such as the Cologne City Festival on the Rhine promenade or the district festivals in the Südstadt and Belgian Quarter.
The festival program spans two days on the fourth weekend in September: Saturday and Sunday, with opening hours from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. (Saturday) and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. (Sunday). Two stages are set up along the main street, alternating with Kölsch cover music, rock, pop, and family performances. For the 2026 edition, bands such as QUOTIME, WILLY AND THE POORBOYS, and KINKS COSMOS are confirmed — all three with a Kölsch slant and cover band background, anchoring the festival musically in the Rhenish tradition.
A strong emphasis on families is a hallmark of the program: face painting, bouncy castles, carousels, children's games are spread across the festival mile. The Festmeile thus attracts not only young adult audiences but also families from Dellbrück, Holweide, Brück, and the surrounding right-bank districts.
On Sunday, Dellbrück's shops open for the open Sunday for shopping from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.. This is an important economic program point — because the Festmeile is not only a cultural event but also a revitalization of the shopping street. Dellbrück Aktiv (the district's business association) combines culture and commerce into an integrated weekend strategy for local retail.
The Dellbrücker Festmeile is one of about 29 district festivals held annually in Cologne's Veedel (neighborhoods). It differs from most in its size and its clear right-bank accent. Embedded in the North Rhine-Westphalia calendar and Cologne's marketing for the Schäl Sick districts, it is an important anchor point for the cultural self-description of the right bank.
The Dellbrücker Festmeile 2026 will take place on September 26 and 27, 2026, along Dellbrücker Hauptstraße (between Bergisch-Gladbacher Straße and Thurner Straße). The organizer is the business association Dellbrück Aktiv. Free admission.
