Daun spielt! has become an institution in the event calendar of the district town of Daun since its first edition in 2017. In 2026, the event celebrates its 10th edition – a special anniversary that will be celebrated with an expanded program.
Stage for Club Life
Daun spielt! is the platform on which the club life and social commitment of the town and the municipality present themselves. Sports clubs, music clubs, carnival clubs, church groups, self-help groups, environmental and nature conservation initiatives, aid organizations – everyone who is involved in voluntary work in Daun has a stage here. Hands-on activities, craft offers, information stands, games for children and adults – the variety is great.
10th Daun Ball Race – The Highlight
At 5:30 PM, the absolute highlight takes place: the Daun Ball Race. For the 10th anniversary edition, 20,000 to 24,000 balls will roll down Bachstraße – a spectacular and acoustically impressive experience. The balls are sold beforehand (each ball is numbered), and the first balls to cross the finish line win prizes. The race is a fundraising event for charitable causes and at the same time a unique visual spectacle that attracts thousands of spectators.
Sunday Shopping
In conjunction with the event, the shops in Daun's city center will be open for Sunday shopping. This makes Daun spielt! the second of the three Sunday shopping events of the year in Daun (after the spring date in March and before the Goldrausch date in October).
Family Program
The event is explicitly aimed at families. Children will find numerous hands-on activities, from crafts and sports to game stations. The car-free city center and the central location make it easy to get around.
Organizer and Commitment
Daun spielt! is organized by the youth services department of the Daun municipal administration in cooperation with clubs and initiatives. The event is an expression of an active civil society in the Vulkaneifel and shows how a small town can put on a big festival through voluntary commitment.

- From 1:00 PM: Opening of Daun spielt!. Club stands, hands-on activities, and information stands in the city center.
- 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM: Sunday shopping in Daun's city center.
- Throughout the afternoon: Children's activity programs, sports, craft, and interactive stations, musical performances.
- 5:30 PM: 10th Daun Ball Race – 20,000 to 24,000 numbered balls roll down Bachstraße. Fundraising event with a chance to win prizes.
- Afterwards: Award ceremony for the Ball Race, winding down in the city center.
