Cross-border Pride Parade and Street Festival in Saarbrücken on Pentecost Weekend
When Saarbrücken's city center glows in rainbow colors on Pentecost, it's CSD time. Christopher Street Day SaarLorLux is the largest Pride event in the Saarland–Lorraine–Luxembourg tri-border region and one of the most important queer dates in Southwest Germany. The organizer is LSVD+ Saar e.V., which has been organizing the weekend for years as a cross-border commitment to queer visibility.
Unlike many CSDs in Germany, Saarbrücken's CSD explicitly carries the SaarLorLux designation — it sees itself as an event for the entire greater region, with participants from Metz, Forbach, Esch-sur-Alzette, and Luxembourg City. The motto changes annually: in 2025, it was “Our Right — No Step Back” — a clear political stance against the growing hostility towards queer individuals.
The weekend is divided into two parts: Saturday features the grand Pride Parade, which winds through the city center — from Tbilisser Platz via Bahnhofstraße, through St. Johanner Markt to the castle. Up to 10,000 participants form the procession, accompanied by hundreds of floats, walking groups, and loud music trucks. Sunday is dedicated to the Street Festival with a main stage, information booths, political talks, and a rave stage by Waldresidenz on Mainzer Straße, which is continuously programmed with local DJs on both days.
With peak numbers of 60,000 to 75,000 visitors, CSD SaarLorLux is not only the largest queer event in Saarland but also one of Saarbrücken's most attended events overall — comparable to the Christmas market in December.
Despite all the festivities, the CSD remains a political march. Demands include enhanced protection against anti-queer violence, full equality in family law and the workplace, and a clear commitment against right-wing mobilizations. In recent years, there have been isolated attempts at disruption by right-wing groups — the Saarland police provide escort for the procession accordingly.
The 2026 edition falls on the Pentecost weekend. The organizer is LSVD+ Saar e.V. Registration deadline for parade participation: May 1, 2026.
The detailed stage program will be published in the weeks leading up to the event. Up to 75,000 visitors and 10,000 parade participants are expected from the entire Saarland-Lorraine-Luxembourg tri-border region.
The complete 2026 stage program will be published in April 2026 on lsvdsaar.de. Parade registrations via anmeldung.csd-saarlorlux.de until May 1, 2026.
