Demonstration and street festival for diversity, acceptance, and equality
Christopher Street Day commemorates the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in New York City, the birthplace of the modern queer civil rights movement. In Bremen, CSD has long been one of Germany's largest Pride events: in 2025, around 29,000 people made a visible statement for diversity, acceptance, and equality, making Bremen one of the largest CSD locations nationwide.
The day has two facets: firstly, the demonstration marching through Bremen's center, standing for visibility, diversity, and solidarity. Secondly, a street festival with a stage program β political speeches and artistic performances with a clear queer focus. In 2026, there will be one stage in front of the Goethetheater and a second at the Wallkreuzung, focusing on joint commitment to an open, accepting society.
The 2026 motto 'Generations of Pride β happy, visible, strong' highlights the diversity of queer life experiences across all age groups. People of all generations are invited to make a strong statement together. Groups, associations, and individuals can participate as walking groups or with vehicles.
CSD Bremen is more than a festival: it's an expression of the Hanseatic city's cosmopolitan, solidarity-driven attitude. Those who want to experience Bremen's committed, colorful side will find a major event in the city center in August that inextricably links demonstration and celebration.
On Saturday, August 22, 2026, CSD Bremen will be held under the motto 'Generations of Pride β happy, visible, strong'. The demonstration starts at 12 PM at Alterwall, at the corner of Stadtbibliothek, and proceeds along the Wall towards the main train station and back into the city center. The stage and street festival will be spread across two stages: one in front of the Goethetheater with speeches and artistic performances with a clear queer focus, and another at the Wallkreuzung focusing on joint commitment to an open, accepting society. Groups, associations, and individuals can participate as walking groups or with vehicles; registration runs from May to July 12, 2026. With around 29,000 participants last year, CSD Bremen is among Germany's largest Pride events. Organized by CSD Bremen e.V.
The detailed stage program for 2026, including specific acts, speakers, and times, was not yet confirmed at the time of publication. The CSD Bremen e.V. organizing team will announce it before the event on csd-bremen.org.
