Christopher Street Day Bonn on August 1, 2026, on Münsterplatz
The Christopher Street Day Bonn traditionally takes place on the first Saturday of August — making it a fixed date in the federal city's event calendar. The festival is organized by the association r(h)einqueer Bonn e.V., which represents Bonn's queer community and combines political demands with cultural visibility.
Three elements characterize CSD Bonn: Firstly, the demonstration, a political parade through Bonn's city center under a slogan that is set anew each year. Secondly, the large stage program on Münsterplatz with bands, comedy, talks, shows, and much more. Thirdly, the summer festival itself — food, drinks, stalls, and meeting spaces — as well as an after-show party in the evening.
With thousands of visitors annually, CSD Bonn is one of the most important queer events in North Rhine-Westphalia — only Cologne and Düsseldorf host larger CSDs. The concentration on Münsterplatz, directly in front of the over 1,000-year-old Bonn Minster, makes the day particularly visible and symbolic.
Bonn, former federal capital and UN city on the Rhine, has a long-standing queer community. The CSD builds on the Stonewall movement of 1969 in New York and is in line with the major German CSDs (Cologne, Berlin, Hamburg). In Bonn, the festival, with its mix of demonstration, open-air concert, and summer festival, is particularly accessible — also for families and first-time visitors.
Behind the CSD is the association r(h)einqueer Bonn e.V., which represents and networks the queer community in Bonn. The association not only organizes the annual CSD but also offers counseling services, events, and political lobbying. Those who want to learn more about Bonn's queer scene will find points of contact here all year round — from the CSD in summer to cultural events in the winter months.
The CSD is part of a distinct Bonn summer event calendar, which reaches its cultural peak with the Beethoven Festival in autumn. Those who want to extend their CSD weekend will find numerous opportunities in the federal city: Beethoven House, Bundeskunsthalle, Museum Koenig, and the promenade along the Rhine are among the worthwhile stops around Münsterplatz.
The 2026 edition follows the proven format: a political demonstration in the morning and early afternoon, followed by the stage program and summer festival on Münsterplatz. The specific artist lineup will be announced by the organizers in the weeks before the event on csd-bn.de as well as via Instagram and Facebook.
As always, CSD Bonn combines political messages with cultural appeal — talks and speeches on stage complement the musical program and address current LGBTIQ* community issues.
Artist list and exact times will be published via the official channels: csd-bn.de.
