“Design & Enjoyment” in front of Europe’s largest tower station

The Christmas Market at Washingtonplatz – officially “Christmas Market between the Main Station and the Chancellery” and also known in Berlin’s insider scene by the motto “Design & Enjoyment” – is located directly south of Berlin’s Main Station on Washingtonplatz, on the border between the Moabit and Tiergarten districts (Mitte district). Its location between Europe’s largest tower station and the government district makes the market a meeting point for Berliners, political professionals, and travelers.

What makes the market special

Instead of limiting itself to mulled wine and bratwurst, the organizers curate a mix of classic Christmas market treats and a selection of Berlin designers and organic suppliers. The stalls offer:

Children and Choir Music

A small Ferris wheel and a carousel are set up for families. Musically, more than 25 choirs from the Berlin Choral Association take turns throughout the season – a well-attended program item that sets the market apart from the mulled wine rounds of many competitors.

Moabit District, Mitte Borough

Washingtonplatz is located in the Moabit district on the southern edge of the Mitte borough, directly on the Spree riverbank and just a few steps from the Reichstag, Chancellery, and Brandenburg Gate. Those who are in Berlin for longer can easily combine the market with walks along the Spree, a visit to the Reichstag, or a detour to the Natural History Museum.
