Four days of international street food, DJs, and live music in Flora-Westfalica-Park
The Cheat Day — Street Food Festival is Rheda-Wiedenbrück's culinary spring highlight. From Thursday, April 30th, to Sunday, May 3rd, 2026, the expansive Flora-Westfalica-Park at Mittelhegge opens its gates for a four-day street food party — with international food trucks, DJs, live music, and a relaxed park setting under old trees.
The name says it all: Cheat Day means setting aside all diet resolutions for a weekend. Burgers, fried chicken, Asian specialties, Mexican tacos, Italian pasta variations, vegan bowls, sweets, crêpes, and ice cream — the variety is immense, and the trend towards vegetarian-vegan options is clearly noticeable. Alongside these, cocktails, fresh draft beer, and non-alcoholic drinks.
The musical program spans from relaxed DJ lounges during the day to live acts in the evening: On Friday, a DJ takes over all day; on Saturday, the duo Stefan & Stefan provides live music. Thursday and Sunday are kept quieter — a relaxed start and a family-friendly wind-down.
A children's corner with a bouncy castle and building blocks ensures that families can stay longer. Seating is plentiful, with a section covered for changeable April weather. The park also offers lawn areas where blankets can be spread out.
The Flora-Westfalica-Park was created in 1988 for the state horticultural show of the same name and has since been the green heart of the twin city in the Gütersloh district. It connects the historic old towns of Rheda and Wiedenbrück via an expansive park along the Ems river. A street food festival in the midst of this setting — that's an unusually pleasant experience in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
Ending on Sunday, May 3rd, the festival falls into a classic bridge holiday constellation around May 1st — ideal for a short trip or a relaxed family outing.
The 2026 edition of the Cheat Day Festival runs from Thursday evening, April 30th, to Sunday evening, May 3rd. Four days of international street food variety under the trees of Flora-Westfalica-Park at Mittelhegge — the motto: 'Indulge in Indulgence'.
Free admission on all four days. Food and drinks at individual prices from the food trucks.
By Train: Rheda-Wiedenbrück station (RB67, RE6), about a 10-minute walk to the park from there. By Car: A2 exit Rheda-Wiedenbrück, then follow signs for Flora-Westfalica-Park. Parking spaces around the park are signposted.
Free on all four days. Food and drinks at your own expense from the food trucks.
Thursday 5 PM–10 PM, Friday 11 AM–10 PM, Saturday 12 PM–10 PM, Sunday 12 PM–7 PM.
Plan for cash — some food trucks only accept cards with a minimum amount or cash only. If you're looking for a vegan-vegetarian highlight, Friday is worth it — proven crowds at corresponding trucks.
